Pakistan’s hockey team kicked off their Asian Games campaign in impressive fashion with a resounding 11-0 victory over Singapore on Sunday.
The Green Shirts exhibited no mercy towards their Singaporean counterparts, delivering a crushing 11-goal defeat and getting off to a strong start in the tournament. Their next opponent is Bangladesh, with the match scheduled for Tuesday.
Pakistan initially started the game at a slower pace, and it was in the seventh minute that Mohamamd Ammad opened the scoring for the Green Shirts. However, the score remained unchanged for the remainder of the first quarter.
During the second quarter, Pakistan significantly picked up their pace and exerted immense pressure on the struggling Singaporean side. They managed to score five goals during this quarter, establishing a commanding 6-0 lead and effectively dashing Singapore’s hopes of a comeback.
The third quarter mirrored the second, with Pakistan finding the net four more times, extending their lead to 10-0.
In the final quarter, Pakistan opted for a lower intensity, conserving their energy for the upcoming match, and only managed to score one more goal. The game concluded with Pakistan securing an impressive 11-0 victory.
Among the goal scorers, Ammad, Arshad Liaquat, and Arbaz Ahmad each scored two goals, while Mohammad Shahzaib Khan, Abdul Waheed Rana, Zikriya Hayat, Afraz, and Abdul Rehman contributed with one goal each.
