David Warner slammed his sixth ODI World Cup century against the Netherlands on Wednesday, going past Ricky Ponting’s record of most ODI centuries in ODI World Cup for Australia.

Ponting held the record for 27 years, but Warner has now claimed it for his own in just twenty-three World Cup innings. Warner’s six centuries include two consecutive centuries in the ongoing tournament, which is a feat that has never been achieved before.

With his century against the Netherlands, Warner also levels himself with Sachin Tendulkar in the all-time list of most ODI World Cup centuries, just below India’s Rohit Sharma, who has seven.

Warner’s knock of 104 runs off 93 balls against the Netherlands was a masterclass in batting. He hit 11 boundaries and 3 maximums in his innings, and helped Australia post a mammoth total of 399/8 in 50 overs.

Warner’s record-breaking century comes at a time when he is in the form of his life. He has already scored over 400 runs in the ongoing World Cup, and is the leading run-scorer in the tournament so far.

Warner’s performance is a testament to his hard work and dedication. He has overcome many challenges in his career, and is now one of the most feared batsmen in the world.

Warner was ably supported by Glenn Maxwell, who smashed the fastest century in ODI World Cup history. Maxwell scored his 100 runs off just 50 balls, and helped Australia post a mammoth total of 399/8 in 50 overs.

This is the highest score in the ongoing World Cup, and it will be very difficult for the Netherlands to chase it down.

Australia in pole position to qualify for the semi-finals

With this win, Australia have moved to the top of the Group A table. They have now won 4 out of their 5 matches, and are in pole position to qualify for the semi-finals.

The Netherlands, on the other hand, have lost 4 out of their 5 matches, and are almost out of contention for a semi-final spot.
