After Pakistan’s 2023 ICC Men’s World Cup defeat to Afghanistan, current captain Babar Azam reportedly started crying, according to former captain Mohammad Yousuf.

The 49-year-old has shown sympathy for Babar Azam, but he has also declared that the country stands with Babar Azam through this difficult time.

When Afghanistan and Pakistan played each other on October 23, the Afghan team performed a fantastic game and defeated the national team by eight wickets.

Following the game, Babar Azam gave a press conference where he seemed to express his concerns.

Speaking on a private TV channel, Muhammad Yousuf said: “I watched the press conference very carefully, in which Babar looked very worried, I heard that he was crying.”

“The outcome of a match should not be attributed to one individual but should be seen as a collective effort involving the entire team and coaching staff,” he added.

Yousuf stated that while Babar and the team were still in the running, Pakistan had to back them.

“Losing is a natural part of the game, and we should all support Babar during this difficult time. We all feel the pain, and it’s something every player goes through.”

Yousuf also identified a few topics deserving of serious discussion, like Pakistan’s poor bowling performance and low run total versus Afghanistan. He said the team seemed to be afraid of losing or running out of wickets.
