Al Hilal’s experienced defender, Ali Al-Bulaihi, found himself at the center of controversy following a clash with international football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and his Al Nassr teammate, Alex Telles.

Al Hilal convincingly outperformed Al Nassr, securing a victory that was overshadowed by Al-Bulaihi’s disruptive behavior.

The incident unfolded in the closing minutes of the game when Al-Bulaihi received a second yellow card from referee Wilman Roldan for allegedly provoking rival fans. The Saudi Football Federation’s Disciplinary and Ethics Committee subsequently announced a one-match suspension for the defender, forcing him to miss Al Hilal’s upcoming Saudi League match against Al Tai on Friday.

Cristiano Ronaldo, visibly displeased with the officiating, hinted at bias towards Al Hilal. Despite expressing his discontent, Ronaldo remained composed during a verbal exchange with Al-Bulaihi. The incident marked the beginning of Al-Bulaihi’s disruptive behavior, which later extended to a confrontation with Al Nassr’s Alex Telles after sealing the fate of the match with a third goal.

This is not the first time Al-Bulaihi has made headlines for on-field altercations. Prior to the recent incident with Ronaldo, he clashed with Lionel Messi during the 2022 World Cup. In that instance, Al-Bulaihi led a winning Saudi Arabian team against Argentina, engaging in a heated argument with Messi and warning him that Argentina would not defeat Saudi Arabia unless they showed respect towards the Saudi team.

Al-Bulaihi’s actions have attracted considerable criticism, with his recklessness earning him a stern warning from the disciplinary committee.
