In Al-Nassr’s 5-2 victory over Al-Shabab on Monday, Cristiano Ronaldo netted his 50th goal of 2023, securing a spot in the King Cup of Champions semifinal.

After a lovely play with midfielder Otavio, Ronaldo, 38, scored the goal in the bottom left corner. He was replaced in the 82nd minute by a standing ovation.

After reaching the milestone, the 38-year-old spoke up on Instagram, thanking his family, friends, and teammates for their unwavering support and stating his intention to score more goals this year.

“Great victory and I’m thrilled to announce my 50th goal in 2023, all thanks to the unwavering support of my teammates, fans, and my family! 🔥 There’s still room for a few more this year,” Ronaldo wrote in a post on Instagram.

The Portuguese star became the second most successful goal scorer in history with this eighth goal of the year, trailing only the legendary Lionel Messi of Argentina, who scored nine goals in a single year.

With his goal on Monday, Ronaldo tied Erling Haaland for the most goals scored so far this year, demonstrating that he is still in excellent form. Haaland is the winner of the Ballon d’Or five times.

The legendary Portuguese player has played in 56 games so far in 2023, tallying 50 goals and 14 assists, with three games remaining for Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo scored and provided an assist in his 1,200th career game earlier today against Al-Riyadh to keep his team in the lead in the Saudi Pro League.

It is important to remember that Ronaldo has played for some of the top teams in the world, including Juventus, Real Madrid, and Manchester United, where he made history and eventually rose to fame.

Ronaldo’s 21-year career included numerous UEFA Champions League victories as well as five Ballon d’Or victories, the greatest individual honor in sports.
