DUBAI: Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam achieved a remarkable milestone during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match against India on Sunday.

Despite struggling for form, Babar managed to score 23 runs off 26 balls, including five boundaries. However, his innings proved historic as he became only the third Pakistani batter to surpass 1,000 runs in 50-over ICC tournaments.

By reaching this landmark, Babar joins the elite company of legendary cricketers Saeed Anwar and Javed Miandad. Anwar leads the charts with 1,204 runs, followed by Miandad with 1,083. With his latest achievement, Babar now has 1,014 runs in ICC ODI events.

Notably, Babar Azam reached the milestone in just 24 innings, making him the fastest Pakistani batter to accomplish this feat, surpassing Saeed Anwar, who took 25 innings.

This record further cements Babar’s legacy as one of Pakistan’s finest batters in international cricket.

Fastest to 1000 runs in ICC ODI events for Pakistan:

Babar Azam: 24 innings

Saeed Anwar: 25 innings

Javed Miandad: 30 innings
