Weta Workshop, which worked on Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings film trilogy, is creating a new computer game set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth setting. There is not much information regarding this upcoming game, but it appears like Weta will have an abundance of content to choose from.

According to a news statement, Middle-earth Enterprises has licenced the literary works of the series, granting Wt Workshop the broadest creative permission to interpret the underlying lore of the books.

Weta’s game division is collaborating with Take-Private Two’s Division publishing label on the upcoming project. The game is slated to debut during Take-fiscal Two’s year 2024, which spans April 2023 through March 2024.

This new game will be released alongside several other Lord of the Rings adaptations. Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power TV series is imminent, but due to a recent delay, the new LOTR computer game starring Gollum will not be released simultaneously. And EA has begun testing a free-to-play LOTR mobile game called The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth.
