The number of novel coronavirus cases in Pakistan is nearly 55000, with 1131 deaths.

As per details, Sindh leads with the number of infections, having a tally of 21645, followed by Punjab; 19557; Balochistan 3306; KP 7685; Islamabad 1457; GB 619; and AJK 171.

Moreover Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leads with the death toll due to novel coronavirus at 389; followed by Sindh 354; Punjab 332; Balochistan 39: Gilgit-Baltistan 4; Islamabad 12 and AJK with 1.

Although The first case of coronavirus in the country reported in Karachi on February 26, 2020, various restrictions imposed to curb its spread and later a lockdown was imposed,  9th of this month lockdown softened a bit.

Initially, the spread of the virus was slow after the first case of the global pandemic reported in the country, but with the passage of time, it on the rise and now a thousand or more cases confirmed daily.

Earlier a study conducted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department has found a link between the virus spread rate and temperature and humidity. The PMD apprised the National Command and Operation Centre today that its study has found a decline in COVID-19 transmission rate related to the rise in temperature and humidity.In addition to this, The PMD official briefed the meeting headed by Minister for Planning Asad Umar through a video link that a deep study show the coronavirus spread mostly occurred in the mid-latitude which had cold and dry weather.

Furthermore Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security Dr Moeed Yusuf said that 90% local transmission of COVID-19 at the moment and only 10% foreign induced. The forum agreed for a strict and proper screening of the passengers arriving at the airports.
