The event is hosted by Chairman World Kashmir Forum. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will be the chief guest while President, Azad Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan will preside over the convention.
The theme of the convention is the “Challenges to Restoring Peace and Autonomy in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
On the other hand, Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan while greeting the US President-elect Joe Biden expressed the hope that the United States will play an active role to get the massacre of Kashmiri people stopped.
In a statement, he said that Pakistan and the Kashmiri people would welcome mediation by the United States or any other country for the settlement of Kashmir issue provided this mediation is supervised by the United Nations.
Earlier the leader of the Organisation of Kashmir Coalition (OKC) called upon US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to keep the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in their priority agenda.
Reminding Mr. Biden of his advice to India ââŠtake all necessary steps to restore rights of all the people of Jammu and Kashmirâ during his election campaign, OKC leaders Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl and Barrister A Majeed Tramboo forwarded a congratulatory letter to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris upon their resounding victory in the US Presidential election.
The two Kashmiri scholars emphasized that Madam Harris generated enormous hope among Kashmiris when she declared â âWeâve to remind Kashmiris that theyâre not alone in the worldâ.
The OKC leadership further elaborated that the gross human rights violations were being perpetrated by Indian troops in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in terms of extrajudicial killings particularly with pellet-shot guns, torture, molestation and gang rapes, enforced disappearances, arbitrary arrests and detentions.
