According to new reports, Babar Azam has become the most favorite to lead Pakistan in the Test format too. The white-ball captain Babar Azam was proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to replace Azhar Ali before the New Zealand tour.
As per sources, PCB does not want Azhar Ali to continue his part as the Test captain. On the other hand, Muhammad Rizwan will likely to be appointed as the Test team’s vice-captain.
After reviewing all the possibilities, the PCB chairman Ehsan Mani will take a decision regarding the Test captaincy.
It is pertinent to mention here that a few days earlier Muhammad Rizwan, who has proved his skills in wicketkeeping and batting, was reported to give the heavy responsibility of captaincy.
The squad and the captain for the New Zealand tour will be announced on 11 November. The national team will play two Tests and three T20Is there.
