Peshawar Zalmi set a target of 208 runs after winning the toss and deciding to bat first against Lahore Qalandars in the 23rd match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Tuesday at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi (today).

After a fast start, Zalmi appeared to be on track for a total of around 230 runs, but instead were dismissed for 207 runs in 19.3 overs.

Babar Azam and Saim Ayub, the opening pair for Zalmi, attacked the opposition, scoring 107 runs in 66 balls.

Saim played some stunning shots to all parts of the ground against a world-class bowling attack from the Qalandars, and he appeared to be in excellent form.

With the help of seven wickets, the left-hander took 26 balls to reach fifty.

Saim, however, was struck by Rashid Khan for 68 runs in 36 balls.

Soon after, Mohammad Haris (9) was dismissed for nine runs as Rashid’s second victim. Haris top-edged a sweep shot, and Sikandar Raza took a straightforward catch at third man.

Rashid gave up 41 runs in his allotted four overs despite taking two wickets.

Haris Rauf took his first wicket of the game as Babar was out after scoring 50 runs off of 41 balls. The right-handed player struck two sixes and four fours.

Tom Kohler-36 Cadmore’s runs in 16 balls gave the innings a boost towards the end.

The bowler of choice for Lahore was Shaheen Afridi, who finished with 4-31 in four overs.

In the final five overs, Peshawar lost eight wickets while scoring 50 runs.

The PSL 8 playoffs have already been qualified for by Lahore Qalandars, who are currently leading the points standings. After seven games, the defending champions have 12 points.

Peshawar Zalmi, with six points after the same number of games, are currently in fourth place on the table. The team led by Babar Azam will have a much better chance of making the playoffs if they win today.
