South Africa beat India by 76 runs in T20 World Cup

South Africa captain Aiden Markram praised his team’s performance.

South Africa ended India’s 12-match winning streak in the T20 World Cup with a dominant 76-run victory in Ahmedabad on Sunday during the opening Group 1 Super Eights match.

Batting first, South Africa posted 187 for 7. David Miller played an aggressive knock of 63 runs, while Tristan Stubbs added important runs towards the end to lift the total. In reply, the defending champions were bowled out for 111 in 18.5 overs. It was the first time in the tournament that India had to chase a target, and they struggled badly.

Left-arm fast bowler Marco Jansen delivered an outstanding spell, taking 4 wickets for 22 runs. Spinner Keshav Maharaj also impressed with 3 wickets for 24 runs. The South African bowlers exposed weaknesses in India’s batting line-up and kept pressure on them throughout the innings.

South Africa captain Aiden Markram praised his team’s performance. He said it was a different kind of pitch compared to earlier matches, and he was happy that the players quickly understood the conditions and adjusted their game plans accordingly. He also appreciated the bowling unit, saying they had worked hard after a difficult start to the tournament and performed brilliantly in this match.
