Apple Inc. is reportedly preparing to introduce its first foldable iPhone in September 2026, marking a major shift in the company’s smartphone lineup.
According to a report by Bloomberg, the upcoming foldable device may be named “iPhone Ultra” and is expected to carry a price tag of more than $2,000, making it the most expensive iPhone ever released.
The report suggests that the “Ultra” branding is inspired by Apple Watch Ultra, which currently represents the premium tier of Apple’s smartwatch lineup. Similarly, the foldable iPhone is expected to sit at the very top of the company’s smartphone range.
Earlier leaks indicated that Apple’s foldable device will differ from other foldable smartphones currently available in the market. When unfolded, the phone is expected to feature a 7.8-inch display, while folding it will reveal a 5.5-inch outer screen.
The device is also rumored to be powered by the A20 Pro chip, alongside a 5,500mAh battery, offering improved performance and battery life.
In terms of design, the camera layout is expected to resemble that of the iPhone Air, but with a completely black camera module.
The module will likely include two cameras, a microphone, and a flash, giving the device a look similar to the iPad Pro.
The foldable iPhone is expected to debut in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series, which would mark Apple’s long-anticipated entry into the foldable smartphone market.
