The Punjab government has decided to launch a modern e-bike rental service in Lahore for the first time as part of its efforts to promote eco-friendly transportation and reduce environmental pollution.

Under the first phase of the project, 10,000 electric bikes will be introduced across the city along with the establishment of 300 docking and charging stations.

The initiative aims to provide residents with an affordable and convenient transport option, particularly for students, office workers, and daily commuters. The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) will allocate space for the docking and charging stations in different parts of Lahore.

Officials said the e-bike service will help people travel more easily between residential and commercial areas and nearby public transport hubs, improving last-mile connectivity for those who rely on buses, trains, and other public transport services.

The rental system will operate through a mobile application, allowing users to easily access and rent bikes. Several departments, including LePark, the Transport Department, and Safe City, will be involved in the project.

According to officials, the initiative is expected to reduce carbon emissions, lower fuel consumption, ease traffic congestion, and support efforts to tackle smog and pollution in Lahore.
