Gigi Hadid is starting the year by rewriting her beauty rulebook. The supermodel has unveiled her darkest hair transformation yet, trading her signature blonde for a striking jet-black bob an unexpected move that has instantly reignited fashion buzz across social media.

Her longtime hairstylist, Dimitris Giannetos, revealed the new look in a social media post shared on January 8. The transformation features a sharp, chin-length bob paired with an intense black shade that Dimitris Giannetos dubbed “Matte Black.”

While speculation suggests the dramatic makeover may be linked to an upcoming Maybelline campaign, it remains unconfirmed whether the inky hue is a permanent change or the result of a high-quality wig. Gigi Hadid was last seen sporting blonde hair in December 2025 while filming a Super Bowl commercial in New York City.

Gigi Hadid is no stranger to bold beauty reinventions. Earlier in 2025, she captivated audiences at the Le Grand Dîner du Louvre with a luminous silver-toned bob so convincing that it was later revealed to be a wig during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

She has also committed to permanent transformations in the past. For the 2021 Met Gala, Gigi Hadid debuted fiery red hair, a look her colourist, Panos Papandrianos, described to Allure as a “fresh interpretation of red,” inspired by The Queen’s Gambit. The shade blended soft ginger tones with subtle hints of cinnamon.

In recent months, Hadid has been most recognizable for her rich, warm blonde hair while spending time with her boyfriend, actor Bradley Cooper, and her close friend Taylor Swift.

Shortly before Christmas, Hadid and Cooper were spotted during a rare public outing at a matinee performance of Broadway’s Waiting for Godot. In November, she was also seen in New York City with Swift, where the pair drew attention for their coordinated autumn-inspired fashion choices.
