Dubai International Airport encountered an unusual situation when heavy rainfall flooded the runways, causing disruptions to flight operations.

The UAE Meteorological Office issued a red alert due to forecasts of heavy rains and strong winds on Wednesday, leading to the cancellation of several flights between Pakistan and the UAE.

According to reports, authorities cancelled 43 flights bound for Pakistan from Dubai and Sharjah due to operational difficulties, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded.

Among the affected flights were PIA's Dubai-bound PK-203 and return flight PK-204, as well as Sharjah-bound flight PK-185.

Additionally, Serene Air's Dubai-bound flight ER 1723 experienced a delay of over 10 hours, while a Pakistan-bound flight from Dubai faced a delay of nine hours. Air Blue's flight from Dubai, PA-411, also suffered a three-hour delay.
