President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, arrived in Pakistan today at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The visit marks a significant milestone in the long-standing bilateral relations between the two nations.
A grand reception was held in Islamabad to welcome the UAE President, with extensive preparations across the capital. Upon entering Pakistani airspace, Sheikh Mohamed’s aircraft was escorted by Pakistan Air Force fighter jets, which performed a ceremonial aerial salute in honor of the distinguished guest.
This visit is Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s first official trip to Pakistan since assuming the presidency; he previously visited the country privately in January earlier this year. During his stay, he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss various aspects of cooperation, including trade, investment, energy, regional stability, and development initiatives.
The Foreign Office emphasized that the visit provides a vital opportunity to further strengthen the fraternal ties and deepen cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE. The Pakistani government expressed its commitment to enhancing collaboration in key sectors and reaffirmed the importance of regional stability.
As a mark of significance, a public holiday has been declared in Islamabad, with all federal institutions, the Pakistan Secretariat, and courts remaining closed for the day. The Senate Secretariat, National Assembly Secretariat, and courts in Islamabad also observed the holiday. However, essential services such as banks, police, the Capital Development Authority, and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited continued their operations as usual.
