Jason Momoa is opening up about the deep friendship he shares with Dave Bautista, revealing that their connection goes far beyond their latest action-packed project.
As The Wrecking Crew premieres on Prime Video, Momoa described working with Bautista as feeling more like family than a typical Hollywood partnership. Speaking to PEOPLE, he highlighted the comfort they share, even in silence.
“I’m extremely comfortable even when we’re not talking,” Momoa said. “We can be in the same room hanging out, doing our own thing. And I can just be in your presence. I don’t have to say anything.”
Bautista reciprocated the sentiment, expressing his admiration and love for Momoa. “I’ve told you this a million times. I love you and I’m comfortable with you and I respect you and I’m proud of you,” he said. “Working with you is a dream come true. It’s never work when you work with people you love, and I love the s–t out of you.”
Momoa went on to describe Bautista as “like an older brother,” noting that he knows Bautista would be there in an instant if he or his family ever needed help.
The two actors, who previously collaborated on Dune and Apple TV+’s See, reunited for The Wrecking Crew, filmed in Hawaii. For both, the location made the experience even more special. One memorable moment involved riding motorcycles across the islands after wrapping for the day.
“There was one day where we did, that was our last shot of the day and we were just riding through there by the beaches, through the hills, through the mountains,” Bautista recalled. “And Jason’s like, ‘We’re done.’ And he said, ‘Let’s ride back.’ So we rode back to base on the motorcycles. I was like, ‘Can’t believe we’re getting paid to do this.’”
Momoa added, painting a simple picture: riding a Harley at sunset in Hawaii alongside one of his closest friends.
Bautista emphasized that moments like these are rare in the film industry, calling them once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
With The Wrecking Crew now streaming, fans can witness their real-life friendship translate onto the screen, a partnership built on trust, respect, and years of shared history.
