Los Angeles: Pop superstar Taylor Swift has topped this year’s American Music Awards nominations with eight nods, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia,” and Album of the Year for “The Life of a Showgirl,” organizers announced on Tuesday.

Swift, who holds the record for the most American Music Awards wins in history, received six nominations in the previous year.

Her ongoing influence was further boosted by her record-breaking Eras Tour, launched in 2023, which became the highest-grossing concert tour of all time. Her decision to re-record her early albums has also been widely credited with reshaping conversations around artist ownership in the music industry.

Close behind in the nominations list are Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Dean, SOMBR, and Morgan Wallen, each earning seven nominations. Carpenter is also competing for Artist of the Year, while Dean and SOMBR have secured their first-ever AMA nominations, including New Artist of the Year.

Other nominees include voice artists from Netflix’s Oscar-winning animated musical “KPop Demon Hunters.” EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami received nominations for Song of the Year, Best Vocal Performance, and Best Pop Song for “Golden,” a chart-topping track from the film. A win in any category would mark their first American Music Award.

Winners will be decided by fans and announced at a live ceremony hosted by actress and singer Queen Latifah in Las Vegas on May 25. The event will air live on CBS and Paramount+.

Organizers said nominations were based on Billboard chart performance, streaming figures, album sales, radio airplay, and social media engagement.
