In the midst of a government showdown, Anthropic’s AI chatbot Claude has quietly become the app everyone is watching.

Downloads are surging daily users are skyrocketing, and the world is taking notice all after CEO Dario Amodei refused to let the U.S. government turn his AI into a tool for mass surveillance or fully autonomous weaponry.

Anthropic has also reported that Claude is attracting over one million new sign-ups daily, while retaining its No. 1 ranking on the U.S. App Store over the past weekend.

Impressively, the app now ranks first in 15 other countries, including Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Switzerland, and the U.K.

Experts suggest that Claude’s surging popularity is not merely a reflection of its technological capabilities but also a testament to its principled stance in a controversial moment a rare combination of ethics and innovation in the AI world.
