Pakistan Army spokesperson Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has warned that any ceasefire violation or attempt to challenge Pakistan’s sovereignty by India will be met with a swift and decisive response.
In an interview with the British news outlet Sky News, the Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that any effort to violate Pakistan’s territory, integrity, or sovereignty will be dealt with harshly.
Issuing a clear warning to India, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif stated that if India believes it can open a front of war against Pakistan, it would lead to devastation across the entire region, as both countries are nuclear powers.
He further noted that the United States and other global powers are well aware that tensions in the region could escalate into a serious crisis at any moment.
The DG ISPR also rejected India's claim that Kashmir is an internal matter. He said India is using a heavy military presence in occupied Kashmir to intimidate the local population and suppress their right to self-determination.
He emphasized that the Kashmir issue must be resolved by the people of Kashmir themselves, in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
According to the Sky News report, despite India’s large armed forces, Pakistan has gained significant military advantages. The report also mentioned that India is angered by the fact that the United States highlighted the Kashmir issue on the global stage during the recent crisis.
The report added that the real test for the US in this crisis is how much pressure it can put on India to de-escalate tensions and stop human rights violations. Sky News noted that Washington is now considering how to maintain strategic balance in South Asia.
