The toxicology reports took longer than usual in this case, as the possibility of unknown substances affecting any drugs the singer may have taken complicated the results. A security source confirmed to local media that the body has now been released from the judicial morgue.
Footage from a local journalist shows the coffin already aboard a flight on Wednesday, with the singer’s remains being transported home.
A memorial service is planned, and it is expected that members of One Direction – Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson – will attend to pay their respects. While the singer’s funeral preparations continue, the investigation into his death remains ongoing.
The police have stepped up their efforts in tracking down those responsible for selling drugs to the singer. On Tuesday night, law enforcement carried out another round of raids, targeting two hotel employees and one of the singer’s “friends.” The raids, which included searching the workers' lockers and reviewing hotel security footage, aim to uncover the source of the drugs that contributed to the singer’s demise.
According to TMZ, the investigation has led to the identification of the “friend” who allegedly sold the drugs, although he was not at home during the raid. Authorities continue to pursue leads as part of the ongoing inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s tragic death.
