TEHRAN: Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has outlined key conditions for a ceasefire, stating that a complete truce would only be acceptable if the ongoing naval blockade is lifted.
He warned that in case of any open violation of the ceasefire, reopening the Strait of Hormuz would become impossible, signaling potential escalation risks in the region.
Ghalibaf emphasized that ending what he described as “Zionist aggression” across all fronts is a fundamental requirement for any ceasefire agreement. He added that recognizing the rights of the Iranian nation remains the only viable path forward.
The Iranian speaker also criticized attempts to “hold the global economy hostage,” saying such actions are undermining ongoing ceasefire efforts and could sabotage the diplomatic process.
His remarks come amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing international efforts to secure a lasting ceasefire.
On the other hand, the spokesperson for Iran’s presidential office has dismissed reports of differences within the country’s leadership, asserting that the leadership remains fully united.
Speaking on the matter, Mehdi Tabatabaei said that Iran’s leadership is “exceptionally united and exemplary,” rejecting claims of any rifts at the top level.
He emphasized that all key stakeholders are on the same page and that attempts to create divisions will not succeed.
The spokesperson further stated that doors for negotiations remain open, provided they are based on principles of equality, dignity, and rationality.
His remarks come amid heightened regional developments, as Iranian officials continue to stress unity and a consistent stance on diplomatic engagement.
