On Saturday, two bogies of the Karachi-Lahore-bound Pak Business Express derailed at Karachi Cantt Station while the train was being shifted to platform number seven.

A Pakistan Railways spokesperson confirmed that the incident did not affect the main railway line, and fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries. Railway officials quickly dispatched a rescue crane to clear the derailed bogies and restore the track.

“The derailment happened during the shifting process, with no impact on the main line,” the spokesperson stated. “Our team is working to restore the track, and operations will resume soon.”

Despite the incident, the spokesperson assured that the Pak Business Express would depart on time from Karachi as scheduled.

An inquiry has been launched by railway authorities to investigate the cause of the derailment, while safety protocols are being reviewed to prevent similar incidents in the future.

This incident follows another derailment involving the Shalimar Express on Friday, which was traveling from Lahore to Karachi. The train derailed near Shahdara, with three coaches affected. No casualties were reported, and the incident occurred due to the breaking of a 200-year-old wooden track, leading to a suspension of train operations between Lahore and Faisalabad.
