She plays the title role of Enola Holmes, the clever younger sister of Sherlock Holmes. She has taken on multiple Netflix projects, including Damsel and The Electric State, which premiered in March.
The third installment of the Enola Holmes series brings back several key cast members. Henry Cavill reprises his role as Sherlock Holmes, Helena Bonham Carter returns as Eudoria Holmes, and Louis Partridge steps back in as Tewkesbury. Himesh Patel joins the cast as Dr. Watson, while Sharon Duncan-Brewster takes on the role of Mira Troy.
Director Philip Barantini helms the film, with Jack Thorne writing the screenplay based on Nancy Springer’s book series. Thorne and Barantini previously collaborated on Netflix’s Adolescence, according to sources.
According to the official synopsis, “Adventure chases detective Enola Holmes to Malta, where personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before.”
Although Brown was absent, several stars from the original Stranger Things Netflix series attended the premiere to support The First Shadow team. Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Jamie Campbell Bower, Cara Buono, Matthew Modine, Brett Gelman, and Priah Ferguson all showed up for the event.
Sadie Sink didn’t attend the premiere, but she watched a preview show on Monday, her day off from performing in John Proctor Is the Villain at Broadway’s Booth Theatre.
Set in 1959 in Hawkins, Indiana, Stranger Things: The First Shadow serves as a prequel that explores the early lives of Jim Hopper, Joyce Maldonado, Bob Newby, and Henry Creel, who later becomes Vecna in the TV series. Kate Trefry, a writer on the show since season 2, wrote the play. “They gave me free rein to go crazy,” Trefry told the source.
“It [had] to fit in with everything we've done before on the show, and it also had to tie in with season 5, which I was working on at the same time that I was writing the play.” Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin directed the production, which moved to Broadway after a successful run in London’s West End.
