Samaa TV and its CEO Zafar Siddiqi are yet again involved in a major controversy. Mr Siddiqi has been found to have Indian ties, maintaining close relations with Indian Army veteran Rakesh Wahi. Wahi has served more than a decade for India and has been the recipient of two Presidential Awards from the Indian government.
As Samaa TV continues to violate all broadcasting rules and regulations, Zafar Siddiqi is involved in partnerships with Rakesh Wahi in the case of multiple international news agencies abroad. These agencies include big names such as CNBC Africa, CNBC Arabia, ABN 360 and Forbes Africa, among many others. Siddiqi is also currently affiliated with Murdoch University in Australia, in the capacity of Board Member. This position has been used by Zafar Siddiqi to influence major decisions at the university.
Zafar Siddiqi is also involved in multiple investment opportunities in foreign countries. The major question remains that what exactly is the reason behind affiliating with elements that threaten the national security of Pakistan. Indian funding is a great threat to the country, since it allows a potential gateway through Pakistan’s media and broadcasting industry.
It is quite alarming to see major broadcasters involved in Indian funding since it poses a great threat to national security and stability. All relevant authorities must take strict action to counter such efforts and ensure that stability and peace is maintained in the country.
